I make functional wood-fired, salt-glazed porcelain and stoneware at Wobage Craft Workshops in Herefordshire. My work brings together my background in drawing with the physical processes of throwing, hand-building and salt firing. I am interested in gesture, movement and the ways marks change as they are worked into clay.

I combine throwing and hand-building, stretching, pulling and pushing the clay to shape both form and surface. As I work, marks stretch and evolve in response to the movement of my hands. I am interested in the relationship between intention and material: how each gesture changes a mark, and how the physical process of making remains visible in the finished vessel. Salt firing adds another layer, giving warmth, depth and variation to the surfaces. I studied drawing at Kingston School of Art, graduating with First Class BA Honours. During my degree, my practice increasingly turned towards clay, leading me to continue my training at Clay College in Stoke-on-Trent from 2022 to 2024. I subsequently worked as a pottery technician and tutor in Bristol, including at Bristol Folk House and Zed Alley Clayhouse. In spring 2025, I joined the Wobage Workshops community, established by Michael and Sheila Casson in the 1970s. I now work from my own studio there while undertaking a part-time apprenticeship with Jeremy and Petra Steward. My relationship with clay extends beyond making the pots themselves. I formulate my own throwing clays from dry powdered materials, mixing and adjusting them myself, and develop glazes from found materials, including iron-rich red clay gathered from the surrounding landscape. I fire my work in Wobage’s down-draught wood-fired salt kiln, using offcuts from a local sawmill. Working directly with these materials, from preparation through to firing, is an important part of my practice. The finished pots carry traces of gesture, material, place and fire.
